The Association of American Cancer Institutes recently honored Alan S. Rabson, M.D., with a Special Recognition Award that recognized his achievements over five decades at the National Cancer Institute, as a deputy director, pathologist, cancer researcher, administrator, and clinical advisor. The award also celebrates his numerous discoveries in virology and authorship of more than 100 scientific journal articles.
His son, Arnold Rabson, M.D., accepted the award on his behalf.
In addition to his tenure at NCI, the senior Rabson is also a member of the Institute of Medicine and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has held clinical professorships in pathology at Georgetown University Medical Center and George Washington University, and at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
The Association of American Cancer Institutes comprises 95 leading cancer research centers in the United States. The award was presented to during the 2012 AACI and Cancer Center Administrators Forum Annual Meeting.Print This Post
